Joblink - Transition to work

What is Joblink?

The transition between school and work is often a frustrating and difficult process for young adults, it is more so for a young adult with a disability. Joblink provides an innovative and “best practice” service with programs and activities that offer positive outcomes for the young people who join Joblink.

The Joblink program provides the “stepping stone” between school and work, assisting school leavers with a disability to adapt to young adult life. Joblink has developed a series of creative training programs designed to provide a seamless transition for Joblink service users. The program is accredited and all participants receive a Certificate I level qualification.

Being a division of Greenacres Disability Services, Joblink also has access to an extensive network of job opportunities such as supported and mainstream employment. The result is a comprehensive program that benefits all of its participants.

Our program

The Joblink program takes two approaches to assisting school leavers.

For moderate to high functioning individuals looking for supported employment, the program is similar to an apprenticeship. For two days a week participants work on the job, on real work in a real work environment, in Greenacres Business facilities. And just as an apprentice goes to TAFE, two days of the week are spent at our training centre participating in Certificate I in Workskills for Life. This leaves one day a week for personal development, attending TAFE or other recreational activities.

Joblink

For high functioning individuals looking for mainstream employment, the program focuses on training and support in order to achieve employment in the community. Participants still receive training in Certificate I in Workskills for Life, as well as TAFE support, Jobsearch skills, work experience opportunities and on-the-job training.
