Greenacre Road Community Participation, Wollongong
The Greenacre Road Centre or GRC provides centre based training and support for adults with an intellectual disability. The aim of the service is to access the local community and to learn new skills, which increase independence in the community and at home. Service users attending the Centre are adults (i.e. 18 years and over) with high to moderate support needs that are unlikely to gain full time employment. Access to the service is via an interview / assessment carried out by the service manager and coordinator. Priority is given to those individuals that have little or no placement in another Day Program, with those individuals living with their family having the highest priority.

Programs are conducted either in the community or at the Centre. An average of 15 service users access attend the Centre each day. The staff ratio is fixed at two staff members for every five service users (i.e. 2.5 to 1).
Individual Planning
An individual Plan or IP is a written plan of action outlining steps to meet training and environmental goals and objectives necessary to improve the quality of life to a person with a disability. All service users attending the Centre have an Individual Plan completed within six months of starting with the service. Active participation from the service user and their carers is encouraged. IPs ensure that all people involved with the person are assisting them to work towards their own goals.
